Dear Third Grade Families,
I hope everyone is well. Here’s a look at what's coming up this week, 10/05-10/9 Please make sure to read all important information to avoid questions that are clearly stated on all emails. I would greatly appreciate it! If you missed my email last week, you can check out my school blog; http://www.stanthonygardena.org/third-grade/
Deadlines:
10/5-10/9 NOON DISMISSAL (PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE)
This week will be noon dismissal, daycare is offered from 12-6pm. I sent reminder cards last Thursday 10/1. Each family is given 15 mins time slot, if you arrive 5 mins late, you will be rescheduled to the next available schedule. I will be discussing your child’s STAR test results, OR (Onward Readers) assessments and progress report. With that being said, any missing/incomplete homework will reflect on your child’s grades.
Please check Gradelink if your child is missing any homework and reach out to me directly if you have any concerns or questions. Please keep in mind that the progress report is just a snapshot of where your child is at right now. Final Grades will be given at the end of the 1st trimester.
All after-school events will be canceled during PTC week and will resume the following week.
Communication and Parent Concerns
If you have any questions or concerns regarding classroom procedures, homework expectations, assignments, grades, or anything happening in the classroom, please reach out to me directly as soon as possible. Please do not wait several weeks to bring a concern to my attention, especially if it involves an incident or a situation that has already occurred. If something is unclear or does not seem to be working, I encourage you to communicate with me right away so we can address the matter promptly and work together toward a solution. Addressing concerns early helps prevent misunderstandings and allows us to provide the best support for your child.
Mosquitoes
Several students have been complaining about mosquito bites in the classroom. Please know that we have been cleaning our classroom daily and have checked to make sure there is no stagnant water inside the classroom. I have already brought this concern to the office, and they are currently looking into possible solutions to address the mosquito issue.
In the meantime, I would suggest applying mosquito repellent spray before coming to school or sending your child with mosquito repellent stickers or bracelets for added protection. Please make sure any products sent to school are safe and appropriate for your child.
Field Trip Transportation and Fundraising Update
An update regarding our field trip transportation plans. Mrs. Grey informed us that she would not recommend moving forward with parent caravans for our field trips. This means that we will need to arrange bus transportation and find ways to cover the additional transportation expenses.
With this in mind, we will need to collect additional funds or organize fundraising activities to help cover the bus expenses for our upcoming Ocean Institute field trip.
Unfortunately, this also means that I will need to cancel one of our scheduled field trips to the Autry Museum, as we would also need to raise or collect additional funds to cover transportation for that trip.
Sunday Mass Reflection Folders
Some students have already submitted their Sunday Mass Reflection folders. Upon reviewing them, I noticed that a few students did not include the complete Gospel reading reference (book, chapter, and verse). In some cases, the echoes did not match the Gospel reading provided, and some of the prayers submitted were not written as actual prayers. Please take the time to review your child's reflection folder and make sure they carefully read and follow all the instructions for each section.

All Saints’ Day dress-up- Wednesday, October 28
On Oct. 28, Students may come to school dressed up as ANY Saint. Saint costumes do not need to be elaborate! We will have an All-School mass on this day instead of Friday. Students will process in Mass with their class in their costumes. Costumes should go over your child’s school uniform, as we will be changing after Mass. Dressing up will be part of their Religion participation and work habits grade.
