All School Mass- Mon 5/11 Our all-school mass this week will be on Monday, May 11th. All students must wear their complete formal mass uniform to school.
Onward Reader Tests- Reading Assessments 5/11-5/13 (Mon-Wed) I will be conducting a few reading assessments with the students, including Oral Reading Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension and Spelling this whole week. These assessments will help determine each child's current reading level. To help your child do their best, please ensure they come to school well-rested, having had a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast.
Deadlines:
May 19: California Native American Project (Distributed on Apr. 1st)
May 26: 3rd Trimester Sunday Mass Reflection (10 reflections required) (Distributed on Mar. 9th)
May 26: 3nd trimester Goals - AR (85%-Accuracy & 100%-point goal) & ST MATH (100%) goals (Journey & puzzle) * If these goals are not met by the end of the trimester, it will result in an Effort Slip.
Library Closure and AR Reading Goals Our school library will be closed for Fiesta preparations, and students are not able to check out books from our school library during this time. Since our classroom has only a limited number of leveled books and variety available, this may affect students’ ability to check out books and work toward completing their AR goals before the deadline. To help your child stay on track and successfully reach their AR goal, I encourage you to visit your local public library to check out books that are on your child’s AR reading level. Reading at home and bringing those books to school to quiz will still allow students to take AR quizzes once they finish the book.
Magaña Family I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your prayers and support for Carmelo and his family during this very difficult time. As a school family, we want to surround them with love, comfort, and practical help. One small way we can do that is by providing meals so they have one less thing to worry about during this time. We have created a Meal Train for the Carmelo Magana Family to help provide meals and support during this time. https://mealtrain.com/7g1oe9 What is Meal Train? There are times in our lives when friends and family ask, “What can I do to help out?” The answer is usually to help with a meal. When many friends provide support through a meal, Meal Train helps keep everyone organized. If you are able to contribute in any way, no matter how small, I know it would mean so much to their family. Most importantly, please keep Carmelo and his loved ones in your prayers. Please also feel free to share this with others who may want to help. Thank you for always showing such kindness, generosity, and compassion for one another. Our third grade community is truly special.
