Hello Third Grade Families,
I hope this message finds you well! The first week of school flew by, and our students learned so much about our classroom routines and expectations. Here’s a look at what’s coming up for the week of August 25–29. Please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. If you missed last week’s email, you can find updates on my school blog: /third-gradeMissing Materials
I still have some missing personal school supplies from the following students. Kindly make sure to have this ready by Monday, Aug 25th.
Completed Forms
To all students who turned in their completed forms last Friday, I will give out their free dress pass on Monday. If you haven’t, kindly submit them on Monday.
STAR Test Schedule
We will be STAR testing on Monday through Wednesday this week. Students must bring their iPads fully charged and have their headphones ready. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and has breakfast before school.
Testing Schedule:
Reading Assessments (Mon-Fri)
I will be conducting a few reading assessments with the students, including Oral Reading Fluency, Vocabulary, and Spelling this whole week. These assessments will help determine each child's current reading level and guide my instruction moving forward.
To help your child do their best, please ensure they come to school well-rested, having had a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast.
1st Trimester Mass Reflection
I will distribute the Mass reflection folder on Monday. Students are required to complete 5 Mass reflections for the 1st trimester with parental guidance. This activity encourages students to attend Mass and engage with the Word of God. The 1st trimester Mass reflection is due on October 27th.
Non-Catholic students are still required to complete their Gospel Reflection. Students may use the usccb website to complete their reflection. https://bible.usccb.org/ You may also access link through your child’s Google Classroom- Quick Links
Regular Schedule
This week, we will begin our full-day schedule. If we have any short days (noon dismissal) this will be announced in the weekly emails.
Uniform, Hair, and Nails
Starting this week, students must wear their complete school uniforms. Please refer to the school handbook for detailed guidelines on uniforms, hair, socks, shoes, jackets, and accessories. http://handbook.la-archdiocese.org/schools/08820/chapter-2/section-2-14

Please check and sign your child’s planner daily to stay informed about their progress. More details are available in our syllabus.
Glass Containers
Please avoid packing your child’s snacks and lunch in glass containers. We have had some incidents with dropped containers causing serious accidents.
Lunch
Please inform your child daily if they are getting hot lunch or if lunch will be dropped off for them. No sodas are allowed with dropped-off lunches.
