8/31-9/4 Third Grade Highlights

Hello Third Grade Families, 

I hope this message finds you well! Here’s a look at what’s coming up for the week of August 31–September 4. Please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. STAR Test Schedule

We will be STAR testing on Monday through Thursday this week. Students must bring their iPads fully charged and have their headphones ready. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and has breakfast before school.

Welcome to Our New Third Grade Student & Class Number Update

I am excited to share that we welcomed a new student to our third-grade class today, Friday. Please join me in welcoming Elle and her family to our Third Grade and St. Anthony of Padua (SAP) family! Our students did a wonderful job welcoming her and making her feel comfortable on her first day. We are so happy to have her join our classroom community!

I also wanted to let you know that some students will be changing their classroom numbers. To help us make this transition smoothly, I asked students to bring their Into Math homework book to school on Monday, August 31st.

New 3rd Grade Afternoon Pick-Up Area

Please note an important change to our afternoon pick-up procedure for 3rd grade.

Starting Monday, August 31st, 3rd graders will no longer be picked up by the tent. Instead, please pick up your child in front of the PE Room.

Please see the diagram below and follow the pink line when entering the pick-up area. Please stay to the left side rather than lining up on the 2nd grade side.

This change will help us reduce the long afternoon carline and get all of our families out as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Please make sure to share this new pick-up location with anyone who may be picking up your child, including grandparents, older siblings, aunts, uncles, babysitters, or other authorized adults.

Missing Materials

Below is the updated list of missing supplies for some students. Please send the missing items with your child by Monday, August 31st. We are already entering our third week of school, and missing supplies are beginning to greatly affect our classroom routine and lessons.

In particular, I have had to delay some Religion lessons because some students are still missing their Bible. Please make sure your child has all of the required materials so we can continue our lessons without further delays.

Please check the list carefully based on your child’s name and make sure the correct items are brought to school.

Personal Hygiene

A gentle reminder regarding personal hygiene as we continue through the school year.

With the warmer weather and our PE days, students can naturally become sweaty or have stronger body odors throughout the day. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene, including bathing daily, using deodorant, wearing clean clothes and socks, and changing after activities when needed.

We understand that students are still learning and developing these daily habits, and our goal is simply to help them feel comfortable, confident, and respectful of those around them. Please especially remind your child to use deodorant and come to school clean on PE days and during particularly warm weather.

Device Notifications

Please check your child’s iPad and turn off or silence notifications from text messages, calls, emails, and other apps during school hours.

We have been receiving several notifications during class, which can be distracting to both the student and their classmates. Please make sure notifications are silenced before your child comes to school each day.

All About Me Kite project – due on 8/21/26

Today, I sent out the template for our first project, which is due on Monday, August 31^st. 

1st Trimester Mass Reflection

Mass reflection folder was distributed last Friday, Aug 28^th. Students are required to complete 5 SUNDAY Mass reflections for the 1st trimester with parental guidance. This activity encourages students to attend Mass and engage with the Word of God. The 1st trimester Mass reflection is due on October 26th. 

Non-Catholic students are still required to complete their Gospel Reflection. Students may use the usccb website to complete their reflection. https://bible.usccb.org/ You may also access link through your child’s Google Classroom- Quick Links

Homework Folder & Planner

Each day, your child will bring home their green homework folder and planner. Please check both daily for important information, forms, study guides, homework, and other documents.

Your child’s planner will include their daily homework assignments and behavior chart. Kindly review the behavior chart each day and sign both the planner and behavior sheet.

Each student is expected to:

Beginning this week, points will be deducted from the weekly Work Habits grade if the planner and behavior sheet are not signed daily.

This daily routine is an important part of helping students develop responsibility, organization, accountability, and consistent communication between home and school. Your support in reinforcing this expectation at home is greatly appreciated.
