8th Grade Business (Happy First Day!)

Dear 8th Grade Families,

This morning marked your child's first-and last-first day of middle school, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to start this school year with such positive energy from our students! I look forward to seeing their bright smiles every day.

Today, we reviewed the syllabus, 8th grade contract, and our rules and expectations for the year. These documents were sent home with your child, along with additional forms provided by the office. Please take time to carefully read through the entire packet with your child.

All forms must be signed and returned by Friday, August 21. This will be counted toward their Religion grade. Students who return all signed forms on time will also earn a Free Dress Pass.

Here's the reminders for this week. 

8th Grade Parent Zoom Meeting
Parents are invited to join our zoom meeting on Thursday, August 20 at 6PM. During the meeting, we will go over the 8th grade contract, and our first fundraiser for this year. Zoom link will be sent out Thursday morning. 

Free Dress Policy
We have noticed that some students are not following our Free Dress Policy. Please remember the following guidelines:

1. Shorts must be modest in length — only a little above the knee. No short shorts.
2. No ripped or frayed jeans.
3. No cropped or see-through tops.

These expectations were already shared in my previous email, but I want to kindly remind everyone to review our Free Dress guidelines here:

Make-up / Nail Polish / Hair Color

Junior High teachers have noticed students wearing nail polish, make-up, and colored hair, which are not allowed according to our school policies.

• Make-up: Students must come to school without make-up starting tomorrow.
• Hair Color: We understand that removing hair dye or gel polish may take time. Students must be in full compliance by Monday, August 24.

Hair Guidelines (as per school policy):

• Hair must be clean, neatly groomed, and a natural color (no highlights, bleach, or dye).
• Boys' hair must be no shorter than a #3 cut, must not touch the collar, and must avoid extreme or trendy styles (e.g., over-the-ear styles, mohawks, designs).
• Eyes and ears must remain visible.

Make-Up & Nails:

• No make-up of any kind on regular school days.
• No nail polish, fake nails, or long nails.
• No lipstick or colored/tinted lip gloss. Only clear chapstick or colorless medicated lip therapy is acceptable.

JH teachers will be issuing infractions beginning Monday, August 24.

Snacks & Drinks
Please remember that students should bring their own snacks every day. If your child is staying in daycare, they must also bring their own lunch.

When packing snacks and lunches, please help us by making healthy food choices. We kindly ask that you avoid sending:

• Candy
• Chocolates
• Hot chips
• Soda, Starbucks drinks, or boba
