Dear Third Grade Families,
I hope everyone is well. Here’s a look at what's coming up this week, 9/28-10/2. Please make sure to read all important information to avoid questions that are clearly stated on all emails. I would greatly appreciate it! If you missed my email last week, you can check out my school blog; http://www.stanthonygardena.org/third-grade/
Deadlines:
Third Grade Morning Drop off
Starting Monday, third grade morning waiting area will be moved from the brown benches in front of the office to the blue benches, where the 4th and 5th graders wait.
Since the office stairwell is closed in the morning and we need to use the middle stairwell to go upstairs, being at the blue benches would make it easier and faster for us to walk to our classroom.
This would also be better for the teachers assigned for morning duty to keep a closer eye on our students. Kindly help remind your child to wait at the blue benches starting Monday morning.
Early Morning Drop-Off Reminder
Please DO NOT drop off your child before 7:30 AM. There are no staff member supervising students before 7:30 AM. The teacher on duty arrives at 7:30 AM and is responsible for supervising students at that time. For your child’s safety, please do not leave your child on campus before 7:30 AM.
General Dismissal Reminder
Beginning Monday, parents/guardians will no longer be permitted to enter campus on foot to pick up their children. Families must utilize their scheduled car line for dismissal. If they need to visit the office, they will need to buzz into the office as usual.
The only families who should be coming to the main gate on foot are Kindergarten families. They will remain outside the gate while they are being released by the teacher.
Afternoon Carline Pick-Up Change
A small change to our afternoon carline pick-up procedure.
Since 2nd Grade is now using our usual carline side, third grade families should no longer line up in our regular carline that goes inside the cones.
Instead, please use the 4th–5th Grade cone side for afternoon pick-up. This will help keep the carline organized and prevent congestion between the grade levels.
Tuesday, Sept. 29th - Dodger Day
Our 8th Grade Class is hosting a Dodger Day Fundraiser on Tuesday, September 29!
Students may participate by wearing:
Dodger Top/Jersey: $1
Dodger Top/Jersey + Jeans: $2
Payment: Please send the cash payment with your child on Tuesday. Make sure your child gives the payment directly to the teacher. You may place the cash in an envelope labeled with your child’s name to make it easier to collect.
Saint Brochure & Peg Doll Project- due on Oct. 26th
All instructions, templates, rubric, and the peg doll were sent home Monday, September 21st . Each student has randomly selected a saint to research. This year, our school is focusing on Saints in our Church, the list was provided by Msgr. All project details have also been posted in your child’s Google Classroom. Please refer to either the classroom post or the materials that were sent home.
Glass Containers
Please avoid packing your child’s snacks and lunch in glass containers. We have had some incidents with dropped containers causing serious accidents.

Free dress clothing must be neat and modest. Parents/guardians are responsible to ensure that students are dressed in a manner suitable for Catholic school students. Students should observe good habits of grooming and personal hygiene and appropriate attire at all times.
