We had a wonderful first day together in 3rd grade! The students came in with bright smiles and positive energy, and I’m so excited for all the learning and growth ahead this year. Today, we spent time getting to know each other, reviewing classroom expectations, and building our classroom community. We also completed a few fun activities to ease into the year and set the tone for a supportive and successful school year.
Missing/ Incorrect Personal Supplies I checked each student’s materials and noticed that many students brought the wrong type of composition notebook. For third grade, it is very important that students use Grade 3 composition notebooks because the lines are thinner and more appropriate for handwriting practice.
I have already sent links and shared samples of the correct notebooks. Please make sure your child has the correct Grade 3 composition notebooks by Monday of next week so we can continue with our classwork smoothly. You may also refer to the complete 3rd Grade Supply List here: 3rd Grade Supply List
Free Dress Policy We have noticed that some students are not following our Free Dress Policy. Please remember the following guidelines:
Shorts must be modest in length — only a little above the knee. No short shorts.
No ripped or frayed jeans.
No cropped or see-through tops.
These expectations were already shared in my previous email, but I want to kindly remind everyone to review our Free Dress guidelines here: Free Dress Guidelines
Parents Forms & Planner Kindly check your child’s green homework folder for any parent forms that need to be completed and signed. Please read each form carefully, provide complete information, and return all forms by Friday, August 22nd. In addition, your child brought home a school planner today. Please locate today’s date and review the assignment written for you and your child. Parents are required to sign the planner every day. Your child knows where the signature spot is, as we went over it together in class.
Google Classroom Kindly make sure your child has already joined and logged in to their Google Classroom account by tomorrow. I have sent individual emails with all the login details, so please refer back to that message if needed. Additionally, Mrs. Rubalcava has posted the PE syllabus on Google Classroom. Parents are asked to review it carefully and return the signed form by Monday, August 25th.
Quizizz App Link I believe the Quizizz app has recently changed its name to Wayground. You may refer to this link for more details: Quizizz/Wayground App Please make sure to download the app before Thursday, August 21st so your child is ready to use it in class.
Snacks & Drinks Please remember that students should bring their own snacks every day. If your child is staying in daycare, they must also bring their own lunch. When packing snacks and lunches, please help us by making healthy food choices. We kindly ask that you avoid sending:
Candy
Chocolates
Hot chips
Soda, Starbucks drinks, or boba
Summer Headlines Homework Your child’s Summer Headlines homework is due on Friday. Please ensure it is completed and brought to class on time.
Reminders
Any forms that went home today should be completed and returned by Friday, August 23. Students who return all forms signed will earn a Free Dress Pass.
I kindly ask parents to email me the day before if you need to reach me about something important during school hours, as my focus is on teaching.
It was such a joy to welcome back familiar faces and meet new ones. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and community in 3rd grade!
Thank you for your continued partnership, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
