This week, we had our first full academic week since I have been back from Maternity Leave. You may have noticed that some routines from Ms. Raquel have changed, and we are still learning and adjusting!
Every Friday, you will continue to receive packets of your child’s weekly work. This is not ALL their work, but mostly their graded classwork or assessments. It is important that you view them to keep track of your child’s progress. You do NOT need to bring them back to school, they stay home with you as you wish to store or dispose them.
Letter and Number Formation
A main focus in Kindergarten is correct letter and number formation. During class, it is my job as a teacher to focus that children are meeting their grade level goals to ensure proper learning development. You will notice that students will get marked down for writing their numbers and letters incorrectly - this includes upper case and lower case mix ups. It is not to be strict with their learning, but to create proper letter and number formation habits — which is a kindergarten grade level standard.
Writing Names
In the past, our TA has been kind enough to write student’s names on their homework packets. Moving forward, students are to write their own names on their papers. This is a daily habit that should be practiced independently.
