Kinder Week 2

Hello Kindergarten Families!

Our First week of Kindergarten was filled with so many experiences! I am so excited with this class, I can already tell that we are going to have great year! This week Kindergarten will be the only class that has a 12:00p Dismissal and Free Dress -- However, if you have your school uniforms I highly encourage you to wear them already! Please carefully read through this week's newsletter! 

Kindergarten Dismissal for This Week
Since Kindergarten is the only class that is having a noon dismissal, we can not have parents on campus because it is lunch time. Kindergarten will be dismissed from our school hall, right outside the main gate of our office! You can park on 163rd St to easy pick-up access! I will be dismissing the students to authorized parents/guardians at 12:00pm. If your child is staying for day care, they will remain with me until 12:15pm and then I will walk them to the day care area. If your child is staying for day care please ensure they have a lunch packed OR an order from ChoiceLunch.com 

Kindergarten Free Dress Optional!
Since Kindergarten still have a 12:00p dismissal, they are allowed to come to school with free-dress. However, I do encourage them to wear their school uniforms if they already have them! 

First Week of Specials!
This week we will begin meeting our Music Teacher and PE Teacher. 

Music class with Mrs. Garcia will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am. 

PE will be on Wednesday with Mrs. Rubalcava (Mrs. R) on Wednesdays at 8:00am. Although we have free dress this week, I highly encourage the students to wear their PE clothes on Wednesday to be comfortable.

Homework
This will be the first week of HOMEWORK! Students are expected to bring their blue homework folders daily. These folders should be placed in our white homework cart every morning according to their numbers. We will be checking for homework completion daily! Missing or late homework will receive a 0, and there is no makeup points. Please ensure to only complete the homework that is assigned on that day and not move forward. The homework assigned are based on the lessons that are taught that day -- if you complete your homework ahead of time you will not receive your points. 

Behavior Grades
Kindergarten receives a behavior grade daily. Please refer to the rubric to understand the grading scales. We have been learning and practicing the school rules this week, many of us have received a wonderful score for behavior this week! However, next week I will begin with grading their behavior more accurate so they can learn to hold themselves accountable and understand the behavior expectations at SAP. 

Additionally, I'd like to give you a heads up that I will be out on Wednesday, August 26th and Ms. Raquel will be leading the class as the "substitute" teacher. I will be attending a family funeral -- I ask that you keep my husband's family in your prayers, as we lay his Uncle to rest alongside his late-wife who also passed away just 2 months ago June. 

It has been a very busy week, and I am so proud of our Kindergarten students and their ability to be resilient and open to learning new things. I look forward to our year together and pray that God continues to guide each one of them through their journey together.
