Kindergarten has officially completed 2 weeks of school! I am proud of their resilience and flexibility, as we have been learning many new rules, how-tos, lessons, and meeting new friends these past few weeks. Next week, we will begin our official full days of school. Please be sure to carefully read through this week’s newsletter to stay on track with our classroom events!
Kindergarten Begins Regular Dismissal!
Kindergarten will join the rest of SAP at a full-day of school. Recess is always at 10:00am, lunch is at 12:00pm, and dismissal is at 3:00pm (1:30pm on Wednesdays). Dismissal will return back to our classroom pick up where I will dismiss the students one by one to their parent/guardian on their emergency list.
School Uniforms Mandatory
Kindergarten will begin wearing their full Vicki Marsha School Uniforms daily. Please be sure to follow the proper dress codes listed in our Student Handbook. If you have not received your uniforms from VM yet, please let me know!
Students must also be in their PE uniforms on Wednesdays.
Since Kindergarten does not go to mass yet, it is not required for them to wear the formal mass uniform on Fridays — but I encourage you to have them practice wearing it if they can!
**Please remember that the only jewelry allowed are stud earrings for the girls and religious necklaces. Students are not allowed to wear other bracelets, watches, or necklaces at school! Please be sure to trim their nails and remove any nail polish*
Lunch Required
ChoiceLunch is our current cafeteria provider. If you wish you order hot lunches for your child, you can create an account on ChoiceLunch.com! Please be sure to order 2 days in advanced, because you can not place orders the day before.
If you are not ordering lunch, please be sure to pack a hearty lunch for your child from home. Please let your child know which items are for snack, and which items are their lunch! Be sure to avoid sodas, sugary-drinks, candy or chocolate in their lunch bags. They will not be allowed to eat them at school.
Homework Expectation
Students are expected to bring their blue homework folders daily. These folders should be placed in our white homework cart every morning according to their numbers. We will be checking for homework completion daily! Missing or late homework will receive a 0, and there are no makeup points. Please ensure to only complete the homework that is assigned on that day and not move forward. The homework assigned are based on the lessons that are taught that day -- if you complete your homework ahead of time you will not receive your points.
Math Homework Workbooks
This week, I will be sending home their MATH HOMEWORK WORKBOOKS. These books can remain inside their backpacks or left at home for easy findings. They do NOT need to bring their workbooks to class. Their math homework will be assigned on their weekly homework schedules. Please be sure to only complete those assigned pages, rip the page out, and staple it to the back of their homework packets. This will be checked daily for proper completion!
Behavior Grades
Kindergarten receives a behavior grade daily. Please refer to the rubric to understand the grading scales. We have been learning and practicing the school rules this week, many of us have received a wonderful score for behavior this week!
SAP Library Books
We will begin visiting our School SAP Library on Monday! Each week, we are able to visit our school library and check out a grade-level appropriate book. These books are free and will be scanned and checked out to each student’s account.
I have provided a plastic mesh zippered bag for each student for them to keep their books safe!
Each week, students are able to check out one book, take it home to read with their families, or keep in their backpacks. These books are able to be checked out one week at a time and it must be returned back to the library on the next week for our next Library day. You may keep these books inside their backpacks or at home but please remember to return the book in its safe condition and inside the mesh bag. Books that are damaged or lost, will be charged to the student’s accounts and the parents must pay the fines to replace the book.
