Mass Reflection (5) by October 27
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Wednesday, 9/10, at 6:30pm in the Hall for all parents/guardians. CHILDCARE IS NOT AVAILABLE during the meeting, so please plan to keep your children at home, or they must stay with you at all times. Vicki Marsha Uniform will NOT be on campus because they were already here in August for our uniform sale in the Hall. We will have two sessions of information in the classrooms to accommodate those with multiple children: 7pm–7:25 pm and 7:30pm-7:55pm. The meeting ends promptly at 8pm. non-participation will result in a $50 fine so please send at least one parent to attend this meeting.

- Math: Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers
- Reading: The Tiger Rising ch 2-5
- Vocabulary: Lesson 1 vocab words
- Word Study: Words with short vowels, Syllables/ VCCV
- Grammar: Simple Sentences, Subject & Predicate
- Religion: Lesson 1
- Prayer: Hail Mary
- Social Studies: California Introduction
Tuesday- Math Test : Place Value of a whole number
- Vocabulary
- Hail Mary
- Reading Comprehension. ch1-5 The Tiger Rising
- Religion : Unit 1 Lesson 1
- Spelling Test
- Recording Assignments: Students are required to write their homework in their homework book daily.
- Parent Signature: Parents must sign the homework book each day to ensure accountability.
- Teacher Checks: Planners will not be checked on a daily basis. However, when reviewed, missing entries or incomplete assignments will affect the student’s work habits grade.
- Submission of Homework: Unless otherwise specified, all homework must be submitted in class on the due date.
Homework provides practice for class learning, encourages responsibility, and helps develop strong study habits. Please check your child’s work for accuracy, but allow them to complete it independently. Students may place a sticker when/if they are confused about a concept and we will try reviewing in the classroom together. However I need to see that they have tried solving the problems. Please note that I am posting videos of concepts to help students understand the learning on their google classroom.
A. Reading Comprehension- A Reading Log will be provided each week. Students are expected to read 15 min daily at home. The book should be in their ZPD. Please read the attached document to see the expectations.
- Please note that this week, our main grammar focus is the sentence so I will help students working on their first reading log of the week in class to help them meet the expectations.
- Provided weekly in homework folder. (3 activities per week)
- Due: Friday in homework bin (not Google Classroom)
- Students complete 1 activity per day (Monday-Wednesday ONLY) (menu & word list in homework folder).
- Due: Thursday by 8 PM on Google Classroom as we will have Vocabulary tests on Thursdays in general.
- Students complete two workbook pages (back-to-back) each night.
- Please do not rip out the pages
- Please do not work in advance
- It is due on the next day.
- Pages will be assigned weekly and are due on Friday in the bin.
- Assignments will be given as needed in class and I will communicate the due date.
Graded test papers
Graded test papers from Thursday/Friday assessments will be sent home every Monday/Tuesday. Please review them with your child, sign, and return the next day.Classwork and Effort Policy
- Classwork Completion: Most work is completed during class time. Students are expected to remain on task in order to finish assignments on time and practice being self-directed learners.
- Staying on Task: Remaining focused during class helps students complete their work efficiently and plan ahead.
- Effort Notices: After grading on Thursdays/Fridays, students may receive an Effort Notice if classwork is incomplete or if they have earned a low grade in a subject.
- Monitoring Progress: Parents are encouraged to regularly check Gradelink for updated grades and to review the comments provided.

Upcoming Events
You can find the school calendar here. https://stanthonygardena.org/school- calendar - Sept 9-10 – Chocolates picked up in Hall 9/9 and 9/10 (for Early Bird drawing)
- Sept 10 – Back to School Night, K-8, 6:30 pm-8pm in the Hall. Come early to sign in for credit and pick up your chocolates in the Hall. This is the first of three mandatory parent meetings throughout the year. Non-participation will result in a $50 fine every time, per the tuition contract you each signed.
- Sept 16 – FALL School Picture Day 8:30-10:30! (Wear your complete Formal Mass Uniforms with white blouses and Oxford shirts, cardigans, vests, and ties for Yearbook photos)
- Sept 21 – Catechetical Sunday, all families welcome! 11am Mass
- Sept 25 – Dave and Buster’s 8th grade Spirit Night. All are welcome!
